Responsible gambling

Gambling comes at a cost over time. The house edge funds the whole operation through simple arithmetic; it is not a warning, and nothing changes that maths, filters and strategies included. Everything that follows stems from this.
Decide before you start
Work out beforehand, ahead of your first deposit, how much you are willing to lose, not during a losing streak. Limits set in a calm state of mind tend to stick, but ones set mid-chase do not. Your spending is entertainment money, not capital you have put in expecting it to be returned.
The tools in your account
- Deposit limit — a cap, set daily, weekly or monthly, on the amount you are able to pay in.
- Loss limit — a cap placed on total net losses for a set period.
- Session reminder — a pop-up showing your current playing duration.
- Time-out — restricts account access for a period you decide on.
- Self-exclusion — closes the account for a longer term.
Should you lower a limit, it applies immediately. On purpose, it takes longer to raise a limit, precisely so it cannot be scrapped at the critical moment.
Warning signs
Three habits deserve attention as soon as they appear: spending cash that was meant for other bills, chasing a comeback after a loss, and telling people less than the truth about the hours or pounds you have put in. Taken alone, none of these patterns says a great deal. It is the three together that count.
Where to get help
Independent of us, every one of these organisations operates on its own.
- BeGambleAware — call 0808 8020 133 any time, day or night, free and confidential.
- GamCare — support and treatment cost nothing here, via the shared national helpline.
- Gamban — a blocking tool that stops gambling websites reaching any of your devices.
About GamStop. Because GamStop applies to operators licensed in Great Britain, some platforms may fall outside it. The licensing location of an operator does not affect the self-exclusion tool in your own account or blocking software installed on your devices.
Under-age gambling
We limit accounts to adults who are at least 18. Where more than one person uses a device, parental control software should be installed and login details kept out of sight. We close accounts that minors have opened and void any winnings from them.
